First I would like to say we are a little disappointed no one has taken us up on the free offer from last update. Yes, not a single soul. If you haven’t taken the time to look then do so. It is no BS sales pitch, no strings attached.

Ok, onto the submission guidelines we go. As stated in our guidelines, author and pennames must be real names or real looking names. Currently we are deleting any pennames we find that do not fit these guidelines. From this point forward we will be deleting all accounts we find that do not follow these guidelines. We have found that those authors who do not use a real name or real sounding name, typically do not submit good articles anyway. We are giving everyone until Friday, 21 November, to go in and fix their accounts. After 21 November, we will start deleting accounts.

I am sorry if the last part of this update seems crude, but honestly, we run a free service to our members. All we ask in return is to follow the guidelines and to receive some e-mail from us every now and then.

If you are having a problem with logging in or anything else, please contact us. We can’t fix it if we dont know it is broken. We had a member send some very vile and undeserved hate mail two days ago because they haven’t been able to login since they joined over two months ago. That said, vile and rude e-mail will result in a deleted account as well.

Just dropping this little update to let you know we have made a drastic cleanup of Rhino Articles.

Old articles that do not fit into our new theme of “People” have finally all been deleted. As some may have found out, we have become much more picky about the quality of articles we accept. “Why are we making these changes?”, you ask. It is simple, to get more traffic.

For those of you subscribed to WebProNews, you will see an interesting discussion with the folks at Google and they briefly talk about the relevency of directories and how most are junk and take any old content. Reading between the lines, it looks like they may be penalizing directories that do not have higher standards. So in a nut shell, the days of wild west, fly by night directories is over.

However we must be doing something right as our traffic this last month has increased by over 32% and these are not just random numbers. We use Google analytics to track our website traffic and there are some more stats that made use stand up and realize the changes we have been making are actually working like increased unique visitors as well as returned visitors.

So what does all this mean to you, well it is simple as well, more traffic for your articles and better search engine ranking, which means more traffic. In fact, we are so proud of our members and the articles we have been accepting recently that I am going to start sharing our number and stats with you, the members, once a month.

The one big thing we are going to really push over the next few months is the use of our RSS and Ezine notification feature so that we get more website and blog owners publishing your articles. To get this started, I would like each member to do the following:

-Find a subject they are interested in at Rhino Articles.

-Then subscribe to that category and apply for Ezine notification.

-Once you receive notification, I would like you to go to Squidoo.com and create a lens on that topic using one of our articles.

We usually don’t send out updates this close together; however I wanted to get some input from members on something we are working on. Before I do tell you what we need input on, I would like to let everyone know that we have increased the minimum word count for the article body to 600 words. Again, if an article does not meet this requirement, it will be deleted without notification. We are sorry, but this is an automated feature and the scripting we have does not allow for notification. That said, we do offer a word counter in the members area so you can ensure your article meets requirements.

Now, onto the input we require from you, the members. We are looking to add the following features:

1.)    A paid members area for around $12.75 (U.S.) a month, that would move your articles to the front of our review process and would guarantee review within 24 hours of submission.

-Unlimited articles per month as long as paid membership is up to date.

-All articles would be socially bookmarked at sites like Digg, Stumbleupon, Propeller and more by our admin

-All links in author resource box would be socially bookmarked as well.

-You will be allowed embedded video and images as long as they relate to article content.

       2.) A pay per article feature for $2.00 per article and would include all the above.

As most of you know we have changed the criteria of subject matter we will accept at Rhino Articles. Please see the submission guidelines for more details.

I want to thank all our members who have submitted some very useful articles over the last couple of weeks.

We are still working on deleting old articles from the directory that no longer fit with our current direction, and there are several of them , so this will take some time.

Here are a few things to look for in the future:

1.)    We will increase the minimum word count to 600 words in article body.  Any word counts under 600 words are automatically deleted. Sorry, but if your article is deleted for this reason, you will not be notified.

2.)    Increased approval time. This is due to the human editor and our standards going higher. We will be offering a feature in the future so that people can get their articles placed in front of line for approval. There will also be more benefits that come with this as well.
